Due to the extremely low temperatures and the anticipated high electric usage, Southwest Power Pool (SPP) has issued a Conservative Operative Advisory effective Sunday, 1-14-24 at 4:00 AM Central Time with an anticipated end at 9:00 PM Central Time on Tuesday, 1-16-24.  This advisory is one step below Energy Emergency Alert Level 1.  SPP declares a Conservative Operative Advisory when there is a need to operate its system conservatively.  This advisory does not require the public to conserve energy.  It is used to raise awareness of potential threats to the reliability of the system.  Energy Emergency Alert Level 1 is declared when all available resources have been committed to meet obligations and SPP is at risk of not meeting required operative reserves.  SPP is the company that manages and issues advisories for our electric system.
